Gay rights! Women’s rights! Children’s rights! Swedish rights! Join five absurdly hypocritical “altruists” who dedicate their lives to the latest cause -- regardless the sacrifice required.
On the heels of Occupy Wallstreet and in the midst of unrest over inequality and unparalleled rents in the Bay, this gem of a show is more relevant than ever. This dark satire, written by celebrated playwright Nicky Silver ("Pterodactyls", "The Lyons"), skewers a young group of hysterically hypocritical do-gooders dedicated to all the latest causes ... and engaging in all the wrong behaviors. It costs money to wage social war -- after all, "firebombs don't grow on trees." So when the group's cash cow, a shallow soap-opera actress, shoots her sleeping boyfriend, it's up to her brother and pack leader Ronald to get her out of it with a plan that involves Ronald's lover, a young runaway prostitute and no small amount of irony.
